In Tumbleford lived little Sir Hiccup. Each time he felt worried he shouted a loud, funny 'HIC!' That goofy sound gave him his special name.

Clinking in shiny armor and wobbling a wooden sword, Sir Hiccup marched past tall knights who giggled. His bright blue eyes still sparkled with brave dreams.

He whispered, 'One day I'll be brave.' That brave day was about to arrive much sooner than he thought!

Boom! A giant 'AH-CHOO!' rolled over the hills. Sheep ran, apples dropped, and thin smoke puffed into the blue sky.

The mayor rang the bell. 'A sneezing dragon is scaring our cows!' Big knights shouted, 'Not me!' Little Sir Hiccup hiccuped and said, 'I'll go!'

He packed bread, water, and his wooden sword. Up the rocky hill he climbed—HIC…HIC…HIC!

On the peak he saw a huge green dragon curled like a sick cat. Its nose was red, its tail shook, then—'AH-CHOO!'—flames danced out.

Sir Hiccup peeped from a rock. 'Hello?' The dragon sniffed. 'Go away, I'm dangerous. My cold shoots fire!' Sir Hiccup stepped closer. 'I'm not scared.'

'I hide so I won't burn anyone,' the dragon sighed. Sir Hiccup nodded. 'My hiccups make people laugh at me, too. I understand.'

Sir Hiccup gave a silly 'HIC!' The dragon laughed, then sneezed a tiny flame that lit a snug campfire. Both friends smiled.

Back in town Sir Hiccup said, 'The dragon just needs care!' Villagers cooked veggie soup and found a scarf as long as a rope.

Led by Sir Hiccup, they carried soup, scarf, and a horn-hole hat up the hill. The dragon thanked them and promised to sneeze only toward the river.

Soon the friends built a hut with two chairs. Sir Hiccup still hiccuped, the dragon still sneezed, and everyone smiled instead of laughing.

'His hiccups make me happy,' the dragon said. Sir Hiccup beamed. Moral: Small heroes and sniffly dragons can change the world with gentle kindness.
