Once upon a time, in a big jungle, there lived a mighty lion. His name was Leo. He roared loudly and scared all the animals.

The animals were afraid. They wanted to live in peace. So they went to Leo and said, 'Dear Leo, please don't hunt us all the time.'

Page 4

'We have an idea,' they said. 'Each day, we will send one animal to you for your meal. Then you won't have to hunt, and we won't be so scared.'

Page 5

Leo agreed but said, 'If you don't send an animal every day, I will hunt all of you!' The animals promised not to forget.

Every day, one animal went to Leo. The jungle was peaceful. But one day, it was a clever hare's turn. His name was Harry.

Harry didn't want to be eaten. He walked slowly to Leo, thinking of a plan. On the way, he saw a deep well and had an idea.

When Harry arrived late, Leo was angry. 'Why are you late? You're too small to fill my tummy!' Leo roared loudly.

'Please, Leo,' said Harry. 'It's not my fault. Let me tell you what happened.' 'Be quick!' Leo growled.

'I was coming with other hares,' Harry said. 'But another lion stopped us! He said he is the true king and took the others.'

'He told me to bring you a message,' Harry continued. 'He wants to challenge you!' Leo was furious.

'Take me to this other lion!' roared Leo. 'I will show him who is king!' Harry said, 'Follow me, please.'

Harry led Leo to the deep well. 'He is hiding there,' whispered Harry. Leo looked into the well and saw a lion!

But it was just his reflection! Leo thought it was the other lion. He roared, and the roar echoed back.

Angry, Leo jumped into the well to fight. He couldn't get out. Harry's plan worked!

Harry hopped back to the other animals. He told them how he outsmarted Leo. Everyone cheered!

From that day on, the jungle was happy and free. The animals lived together in peace.
